London: Culture gets cool at London Transport Museum

There are still a few places for tonight’s social at the London Transport Museum’s brand new Lates programme featuring exhibitions, vj’s, cocktail shakers, silent disco and much more. And it’s open to all CS members, so book on if you haven’t already, it’s going to be a great night!

We’ve got some great things lined up for this weekend too.

And next week, we continue the Music Lovers theme with a popular night out in Camden for live music and a Beatles tour in Marylebone.

And with the weather getting frostier, there’s plenty of ways to keep the winter chills at bay with a sizzling Salsa dance class, Winter Warmer drinks at one of the oldest pubs in London, a Fondue night and a night of drinks and dancing to name a few surefire ways to keep warm this winter!

Have a great weekend!

The first CitySocialising baby is born!!

I’m pleased to announce that at 1.39am on Saturday 24th October 2009, baby Max was born, to “over the moon” parents Hapi and Neil, two CitySocialisers who first met each other, and started out as friends, at The Morpeth Arms on a “Sunday lunch & Tate Britain” Social a few years ago.

Baby is healthy and well and oh so cute, mum is also well, and dad looks like he’s on cloud nine too! Being the dedicated CitySocialiser that she is, just 11 hours after giving birth, Hapi texted me to let me know the good news – what a trooper!

Having spoken to her yesterday, we were just reminiscing about when she first joined CitySocialising, walking into the pub looking really nervous and really unsure about joining, having (by random chance) heard an interview I did on BBC London about the network. Spookily enough, Neil was the only other person I had met who also joined up after hearing the same interview on BBC London – so perhaps there is such a thing as fate.

Or perhaps the secret is CitySocialising’s attitude to meeting new people – laid-back, stress-free and platonic so you can just be yourself, have fun making friends…. and then who knows what might happen :)

Good luck to Hapi and Neil and welcome to the world Max!

Bristol voted Best City to Live in!

Bristol has been voted the UK’s best place to live!

The city has been hailed for its clean city centre, quality of life, friendly residents and close proximity to the coast and rolling Somerset countryside.

It was found to have an ideal balance between a busy city and picturesque town and also scored highly for its architecture.

People living in Bristol also emerged as the happiest – both financially and with their family – as well as enjoying a community spirit and having an almost perfect work/life balance!

Hurray for us!
Come and ensure you balance all that work with rest and play CS style and make the most of our wonderful city!

1st Nov 09 sees launch of CitySocialising’s national Music Lovers’ Month

London: Oct 2009. CitySocialising, the UK’s leading socialising network for outgoing professionals, today officially announced the first line up of social events and activities (‘Socials’), that will be taking place throughout November 2009, as part of their national Music Lovers’ Month.

Kicking off in London on Sunday 1st November with an afternoon outing to the Green Note open mic session in Camden, CitySocialising’s Music Lovers’ Month is dedicated to connecting music fans from across the UK, with new, local and music-loving friends in their city.

Over 50 Socials will be organised and hosted, by CitySocialising, across more than ten cities in the UK & Scotland, and will be open to all to join in with. These include a “Heavy Metal & Margharitas” night in Manchester, “East End Electro” night in London, “Rock & Indie live gig” outing in Glasgow and a “Jazz, Funk & Soul Lovers get together” in Edinburgh as well as an “X-factor & Karaoke night”, to bring together budding singers, and a “Music Lovers Pop Quiz” night, for music intellectuals to test their knowledge together, in Brighton.

In addition, members of the CitySocialising network, will be organising their own group nights out to gigs, concerts and club nights, according to the music that they love, inviting like minded music fans to join them, and the total number of Socials organised and enjoyed as part of this is expected to reach over 300.

Sanchita Saha, CEO & founder of CitySocialising said:

“Coming from a radio background, I’ve witnessed music as an incredibly powerful medium with a unique ability to connect people regardless of backgrounds and cultures. The music scenes and range of gig and club nights that the cities, in which we operate, have to offer are exciting and really diverse and this has been reflected in the wide range of music-themed social groups that have developed within the “Share Interests” section of each of CitySocialising’s 19 networks. Music Lovers’ Month is set to be a celebration of this and a fantastic opportunity for anyone living in a CitySocialising location to connect with genuine new friends in their city through the shared love of music, not only online but together at great music events and activities offline.”

CitySocialising’s Music Lovers’ Month will culminate in a main event in each city, which will invite lovers of any and all kinds of music along, to meet up, socialise and connect with new ‘gig/club buddies’.

It’s all change, but just as fun in Liverpool!

Jonny Quirk – Managing Editor (UK North)

Hi guys, although I’ve had a great time Editing Liverpool since launch, it’s now time to hand over the reigns to Rachel who lives and breathes the social scence of Liverpool! Rach has been a key member of the CS team since launch, hosting loads of Socials, making friends in and around the city and creating loads of great member own events. I’m really happy that Rach will be running Liverpool and I’m sure it’s in great hands too!

Talking of members own Socials, we’ve had a great response to our Super Socialiser competition with some great ideas and members own Socials being created over the past 2 months – and there’s still loads coming up!

And of course, in November it’s CS Music Lovers Month, with a number of great Socials on board including Live Music , the excellent CS Beatles Pub Crawl and a Music Lovers Meet on the 26th! We’re also asking that you take this opportunity to put on your own Music Members Own Socials so as you’re in complete control of what you see and do this November!

With all this going on, CitySocialising really is the place to be to meet new friends in Liverpool, share interests and make the most out of your leisure time!
Well, that’s it from me but I’ll be at a New Members Night soon so hopefully see you then!

Take care

Jonny
